please come over here and tell me about the significance of and ? They are both top search terms at Technorati, but I can't find much of an explanation in English. I feel so out of the loop. D.

LOL You are such a technorati whore, Doug.

Well, they mean "You Are Germany" and
"bathroom walls". But the significance?

Du Bist Deutschland is a national pride campaign here--one of those touchy-feely sort of things showing all the different sorts of people who live in Germany. Lots of German blogs are commenting on it.

And the Klowände--it seems to be referring to blogs as akin to the graffiti on bathroom walls. The complete phrase is "Klowande des Internets" or "the bathroom walls of the internet," and apparently was started as an insult by Jean-Remy von Matt, the man behind the Du Bist Deutschland campaign.

I gather from the context that bloggers have been criticizing the campaign & von Matt responded to the criticism by saying blogs are nothing but the bathroom walls of the internet. Which comment, of course, caused further criticism, hence the technorati tags.

Lol, Darla beat me to it.

I hate that campaign, btw. I definitely don't feel like I am what is represented by the German government and German media.
